1st Trimester

I can't buy enough groceries...

I am 7 weeks along and I can't believe how often I need to eat to stay on top of the nausea!  I bought groceries last night and tried to grab snack stuff to last this week and I'm way further into it today than I anticipated. 

I work in a cube with low walls and when people start nuking their lunches, I start feeling the need to vacate the premises before I vacate the contents of my stomach.  I bought almonds to snack on a week ago but can't stand the thought of eating one this week. Right now I'm eating mostly crackers, peanut butter when I can stomach it, chocolate chip Chewy bars, blueberries, Life cereal, and rice cakes.

 Do you have any good (possibly cheap-ish) snacky food I can add to my rotation?  What worked for you?  How did you handle other people's lunch smells at work?

  • My go-to's are string cheese, pistachios, rice crackers, sliced cucumbers, gluten free ginger snap cookies, oranges (work absolute wonders on my m/s), berries, and the odd bag of baked Lays chips (which I often feel quilty about). Once in a while I'll also have almonds, which never sound good, but if I force myself to eat them I always feel so much better - must be the protein. As for food odors, sorry, no suggestions. Some of the girls' perfume has made me sick though. I can't wait to feel normal again.

  • Grapes, apples, strawberries. Most fruits. And the funny thing is I hated fruit before pregnancy. I don't love it now, but it's saving my life.

  • Last week I was obsessed with onion poppy matzo. This week I can't stomach the smell of it.  I've been munching on Ritz crackers and cheddar cheese.

  • I've been eating Doritos a lot.  That's what I am hungry for.  It's really tough when the smells bother you - I'd go for a walk when people are heating up lunches.
