I was talking elsewhere and someone thew out the name Gray as a middle name to go with Harper or Nora. No one has said anything negative about it & I love the way it sounds but it might be a bit too unique for my tastes. Thoughts?
My biggest dislike of it is that obviously the first thought is the color grey & that it's not a real name.
ETA: wrong word

DH and I are considering Grey as a first name if we have a boy. Obviously, I happen to love this name.
I babysat for a boy whose name was Grey (this was over 20 years ago). He had the best disposition and I've liked the name ever since. It's amazing what an association can do to a name.
">
Grey is my GP name! For a girl, too! DH nixed it big time, said when it was paired with another name, it just sounded like a morbid version of that name.
I have been in love with this name since 1993. Can you imagine? That's going on 20 years! Insane. I read a book and the main character was named Grey. I loved it ever since! My fav color is grey, my emails all have the word grey in them, my pets are grey, heck even my wedding color was grey!
That being said, I do like it....(obviously).....but I agree with PP to pair it with a super girly name so it's not too boyish or depressing.
Just tossing out my two cents...
I like it, I think the name is awesome for a girl or boy. Do it!
I know a girl who named her son Gray -- its her maiden name. He is a very happy little boy. I think its a great name and works perfectly for her family

This was 2 others immediate reaction as well. One being an obnoxious comment about how reading the book got us KU.
I really love the way it sounds but I'm having a hard time getting over the negative. With DD we knew right away that was the name, there was no flip flopping & it just felt right. I'm not getting any of that this time around and I'm getting annoyed.
