Please help! not sure what to do!

Hi Ladies!

quick questions....I just received word that I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon to do a secondary biopsy/cut on a suspicious mole.  They are going to be using a local anaestetic to freeze the area, and one google search i did said this can be linked to birth defects?? what should i do? (i am waiting for my doctors office to call back, but I am worried!).

Thanks!

  • Just tell the plastic surgeon that you are pregnant.  He will use something safe.  Also, google is the worst thing to use sometimes for medical advice, its almost always cancer.

  • I would call the Drs office and advise them that you are now expecting.  They may choose to do another alternative (such as a general anaesthesia) or have an anaesthesiologist come in and assist with it to reduce the risk of complications.  They definitely need to know there is a baby on board - because then they can advise you on what's the best way forward.  Hope everything goes well!

  • I just had two moles removed last week and one came back as pre-cancer. I have an appointment to have the rest of it cut out next week. My OB and the dermatologist agreed that using the litocain (sp?) is perfectly safe. I was worried but once I talked to my OB she assured me it was perfectly fine and she had seen it hundereds of times.

    Don't worry:)

  • They inject the area to numb it. Same with like if you go to the dentist but there is also a topical they can rub on the skin to numb just doesn't work as well. I would def call the dr to make sure it is safe and you can also verify with your ob.

  • I had a mole removed my first pregnancy. I actually had my OB do it... not sure he was the best person but I know the baby was safe!
