Doing DD's first "kids" birthday party at the end of July! We're having it at a park/pavilion w/a playground, having pony rides, and probably a pinata (it's 2 hours long, I figure that will be fine for activities for at the most,10 kids, and we'll have the ponies the entire 2 hours so they could go on multiple rides if they want).
I have food planned out already and had these invites made:
Ideas for what to do about decor and partyware? All that I can find is either cowboy/cowgirl/western, or My Little Pony which wouldn't work... I will probably just do solid colored partyware and feel like I should probably do a mix of colors since there will be boys there, too...
Also, what can I put in the favor bags? I dont want to spend a lot, and dont want bags filled with junk, either. There will be boys and girls there (all 4-year olds, and possibly 2 2-year olds). I'm fine with one large item for each kid, but if it's a food item it has to be a nut free product (DD and one little boy attending are fully nut free)... I can't think of anything with the pony theme that would work (i'm not fully creative I guess).
Re: Need ideas for DD's birthday party
You could do a package of "pony tail" holders for the girls. For the boys, maybe a little toy horse for the boys.
Oriental Trading has little cowboy boot mugs that are adorable. I don't see why a Western theme is bad. The bandana patterned napkins are so cute. And since it's your DD's party, the decor can of course be girly - it's her party!
I know I might be the exception but I hate gender specific gifts, I personally would rather my son get a "girl" favor and my daughter get a "boy" gift than for someone to decide that my kid should not be playing with the thing. Obviously a pony tail holder could only work for kids with long hair but a toy horse can work for boys and girls, actually I know more girls into playing with horses than I do boys anyway. As for colors, same goes for me, it is a girl's party and if she wants pink there is nothing wrong with a 4yo eating on a pink plate and people can bite me if they have an issue with that at my kid's party. How about pony shaped chocolate lolipops? Something like this?
What about cute cowboy hats. U can get them
Pretty cheap. The kids would love wearing them at the party!
Our Dollar Tree had cowboy hats in a couple different couples. I like the idea of little plastic horses, too.
Very cute invitation, by the way!
We did books as favors last year and it worked out really well. I agree with checking Amazon or B&N.
