Follie update and sperm question

follie check went well this morning. Looks like we have a good number of follies growing all at the same pace so doc is encouraged. My early discomfort came I think due to a UTI I am developing, but it was caught early so that is good.

Now the sperm question, it is highly unlikely that my DH will produce any fresh sperm. He is off the meds and has been for more than 9 months because all his hormone levels were tanking and they needed him off to get them back to safe levels. Before then we got quite a few good frozen samples with decent thaw rates. They still want him to try for fresh anyway because fresh is supposed to be best. But I think that even if he produces a few sperm, 4-10 or so, that wouldn't the sperm he gave while his testes were working somewhat be a better vintage that what we are going to get now? Any thoughts are appreciated as always!

  • Since we're a somewhere between 5 and 300,000 (which my RE says means realy 35 viable sperm) they planned on using his fresh sample, and if there wasn't enough they'd thaw some to make sure there was enough for all my eggs.

Good luck sweetie!  Got everything crossed for you!

  • I wouldn't stress (easier said than done). Obviously fresh is preferred but to be realistic us azoo girls can't rely on that.  I really hope that the sample is good but I am glad that you have more than enough on ice. We have seen plenty of success with frozen.  Good luck and go away UTI!

  • The uro we used, is pretty much considered the best in the country.  Pet.er Schle.gel, and he says ALWAYS fresh first.

Meds likely make more sperm, but not better.  Fresh always has a better fert rate.  My dh has to give 3 samples the morning of ER, bc the pref that over going to the frozen.  The frozen is there as a back up, not to be used over fresh.

    GOOD LUCK!
