Too early for crib?

My LO doesn't sleep very well in his bassinet, however when I put him in his crib to nap, he does wonderfully. What is your take on this? Is he too young for his crib..?

Re: Too early for crib?

  • DD has slept in her crib at night from the first night we were home: 4 days old.

  • LO is going in the crib when we get home.
  • i didn't think there was a too young age!  I'd go for it!  Whatever works to get them to sleep!

  • All of my kiddos go home straight to the crib. That eliminates one the many transitions that they have to go through in my opinion. Good luck and go for it!!!!!!!

  • I don't think it possible to be too early for the crib. I think getting the baby used to the crib is really important. I've read on here a bunch of times that the transition from pack and play or bassinet to crib can be difficult. I'm planning on when the baby is here to have it sleep at least once a day in the crib so it is used to the crib from the start.

if he sleeps really well in the crib i would be jumping for joy!

  • I think if your baby sleeps better there, you should go for it! Don't mess with a good thing!

  • My LO has a bassinet in our bedroom, but during the day he naps in his crib. It's amazing how small they look in the crib at first (and really scary to know that they'll outgrow it some day!!)

  • Not at all.  Both my boys started in their crib from day 1.

  • For me I need them close by, especially when I BF every 1-2 hours. The nursery is too far from my room for me to get up that often. The AAP recommends you keep your baby in your room (not bed) for 6 months to reduce the risk of SIDS, that said you have to do whats right for you.

DS was in my room for 6 months and DD 4 months, I think this baby will nap in his/her room and at night stay in our room for at least 2 months.
