is there safe pizza for peanut/egg allergic child?

Similar to previous post I made DS has outgrown his dairy intolerance and soy allergy and I am trying to branch out but scared to death to feed him outside our house....do you have a pizza place that is safe for your LO?  What cross contamination issues could there be?

TIA

  • I expect that a lot of pizza places brush their crusts with an egg wash; that would be my main concern. While there is always a cross contamination risk, I think you can minimize some of that by calling ahead and asking about the allergens, reminding them when you arrive, and of course always carrying your EpiPen.

  • Most of the major chains have been safe for our peanut/nut/egg allergy child.   Pizza Hut, Domino's, CiCi's and Little Caesar's.  Also the Costco pizza is ok too.

    Specialty shops usually use eggs.

  • I never really thought about egg wash, although I always ask!  We get dinner at Pizzeria Uno's a lot.  Well, once a month maybe.  It is the only place we trust where Owen will actually eat something.  He gets the pizza (without cheese) and no concerns.
