I said I would never just "dump" my child at his activity mat or Jumperoo unless I had work to do, or shower, bathroom, etc. But DS was unusually fussy this morning. He wasn't hungry, he wasn't tired, he wasn't bored b/c I was trying my darndest to entertain him! He didn't want to play with his acitivity mat.. Nothing was working, not even the TV! So he is now happily jumping up and down in his Jumperoo and here I sit bumping....and both parties are happy. Some days, you just have to do what works I guess!
Re: Yep, I did it...
I totally agree. Sometimes they just want to be left alone to figure things out.
I agree with this too. I also know that certain times of day are better for us to interact and others for DS to be "on his own" on the mat or such. I also alternate between interaction/activity and "alone" time. The only parent I've seen up close has been my sister and she always entertained her first child and now that child is 5 and constantly demands attention. With her second, she couldn't always entertain him, and at 3, he's the most content little boy with his cars and trucks or Play-Dough.
