1st Trimester

Anyone using Bio Oil?

I read an article about it several months ago before I was pregnant and decided to pick some up.  Just started with it last night.  I know I'm super early on to be thinking about stretch marks but thought I would give it a whirl.  I used cocoa butter exclusively during the last pregnancy, but I was younger then!  Lol.

I've heard that it's really good stuff but I've never used it.

  • I used it everyday. I left it on the ledge in the shower and would apply it before I got out. I was lucky and didnt get Stretch Marks, but I do believe its hereditary (my mom didnt get them either) but who knows, maybe it was a combo... I feel it def cant hurt to use it. If anything, it def helps keep you from getting "itchy belly" lol. Not allowing your skin to get too dry is def a +!

  • There are lots of people who say that nothing can keep you from getting stretch marks. That may be true, but like PP said, it can't hurt to keep your belly nice and lotioned up. I did use some stretch mark cream after I had DD, and the marks did fade noticeably, although they didn't disappear. Still worth it, though!

This. I used pretty pricey "awesome" creams... nothing worked. Bio-Oil actually caused some major itching and was too greasy for me. I'm now having laser treatments done to help make my stretch marks less visible. But when it boils down to it, there isn't anything you can do.

  • I didn't discover it till after DD, and the damage was already done. But within a week of using it, the marks that were there and bright red have faded back to slightly paler than my skin color. I'm using it this time around to stay moisturized- besides, it helps with other pregnancy related skin issues that I've been getting. :)

  • I used it last time AND cocoa butter.  I had ZERO stretch marks until I was 39 weeks.  Then I got a TON at the end.  So much for that!
