I'm out of ideas.
E won't keep a pacifier in his mouth, doesn't really suck his thumb and isn't attached to any sort of lovey (I've tried an A&A blanket, a Taggie blanket, and a small stuffed dog). We're trying to wean him off the swaddle and I'd love to help him find a way to self-soothe other than screaming his head off.
Re: How does your LO self-soothe?
I am not sure how to explain it.... he just does. Its definitely not something I can take credit for.
One thing that I think HELP are his sea horse and twilight turtle. We have used them every night since he's been born (he's also been in crib since day 1) and as soon as those things go on, he makes the association its time for sleep. There have been nights where he has clearly not bee tired, but as soon as I lay him down and turn those things on, he just chills... even if he doesn't fall asleep right away and just babbles to his sea horse or plays with his feet.
Good luck... E will figure out!
We're kind of like PP- it just sort of happened. DD really likes the ocean setting on her Sleep Sheep, her seahorse, and her "wubby" (Wubbanub). We use all 3 when she goes to bed and if she's not immediately out, she can entertain herself watching/listening until she falls asleep. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, I typically just walk in there and turn on the sheep and give her wubby and she's back out until morning.
