How did you/will you tell your friends?

We have already told much of our family and now after having an ultrasound and having everything check out great, we are gearing up to tell our friends (prob later this week after my follow up appointment). 

How did you tell your friends??  We've got a large group that we hang out with

We go lucky;  DH and I happened to be throwing a big pool party the week after our BFP, and most of our friends were there.  So we just announced it as soon as everyone was there.  (Announced so early because everyone knew about our IF.)

We are telling our friends as we see them. Nothing special just a hey we are pregnant!

We went on a climbing trip with some of our friends not too long after we found out, so I got a pair of baby (well, toddler) climbing shoes and clipped them onto the back of DH's pack. They saw them right away, but it took them awhile to figure it out.

Maybe you or your SO could wear a shirt thats a funny pregnancy shirt. you'd be surprised how many people talk and chat to you and dont notice..lol. We did this and it was HILARIOUS bc people would go 'HEY???  YOU GUYS ARE HAVING A BABY" and be all excited, and then someone else would show up, and not notice right away and everyone would be giggling and laughing and the person would be like "what? whats so funny"? lol. It was a pretty memorable thing

With DD, we went on a retreat with our Bible study (also our group of great friends) right at the 12 week mark, so we were planning on telling them that weekend but didn't have anything specific in mind. While we were sitting around the first afternoon, we were next to a room where an event was being held, and I said I smelled egg rolls. The woman sitting next to me laughed and said, "I don't smell anything! Maybe you're just pregnant!" DH and I just started laughing and I said, "Actually, I do have something to tell you!" It took a bit for them to realize I wasn't joking. We were the last in that group to have a baby, so they were all really excited for us.

Exactly this. I told my bff over lunch a few weeks ago.  Everyone else will know sometime at the end of first tri/beginning of 2nd tri as we see them.

We have been telling friends when we see them.  I have been letting it come up as a natural part of the conversation - usually a drink is offered, I decline (completely, totally 100% out of character), then explain why I declined.  It has been really , really fun.

I can't keep secrets so I told everyone the day we got our BFP! We made phone calls to and texted those closest to us and then it went on both of our Facebooks.

I went to a Happy Hour gathering at one of my friend's house and was offered a drink and I said water please.  Well that's all it took.  It was really funny because as more friends came over, the hostess just told everyone I was drinking water and they all knew!

We have only told a select few right now, and for one of my best friends, I put a bassinet in the future nursery and was like, "you've got to see what we're doing to the brown and white room..."  She walked in and was looking at the dresser I recently re-finished.  I had to prompt her, "Look what else we got."   It was really sweet, she got so excited for us.

 

For other family members and close friends, I got DH a t-shirt that says, "The Bun Maker" on it.  I think he'll wear it around them and see what happens.

 

But, we struggled with IF for over two years, and have some friends and family members who are still on their journey to parenthood.  So for those, we will probably just send a simple and sensitive email to let them know.  I know how hard it was to find out that kind of news for someone else in a public setting.  So we want to be sensitive to their feelings.

My husband plays on a softball team, and the majority of our friends are at all the games.. I went to the concession stand and got a big thing of chili cheese fries and after I sat down to start eating them, I just casually said "Y'all can't judge me for eating this because I'm pregnant." They all just stared for a minute in disbelief, and then they all started freaking out! It was so funny to see their expressions when they were so caught off guard!
