Pregnant after 35

How do you concentrate on work??

OK- I have to give a lecture tomorrow (it will be the fourth time I'm giving it this year) and I can not focus for more than 5 minutes on it!  It normally takes me a while to focus anyway- but this is ridiculous.

Any tips?  Besides the obvious of "get off the bump?"

Thankfully I don't have morning sickness (yet),  so that's one less thing to worry about for the TWO hour lecture tomorrow morning :)

 Thank you!

Re: How do you concentrate on work??

  • I'm having a hard time with this myself. I am SOOOO not motivated to tackle anything at work beyond the easy stuff.  Not sure there's an easy solution other than to buckle down and do it. Maybe the motivation that we get to be off work soon to enjoy our new babies :)

I only have 3.5 more months of work I think.

  • If you figure that out, please let us know, ok? I've been running on semi auto pilot for months...doing the little stuff so I look productive.

I'm really behind on a couple things though. I really should start tackling it.

  • So glad to hear its not just me!

  • I can concentrate, but after a while I start to fall asleep. This happens almost every day. I made it thru the entire 2d tri without ever getting that "whoosh!" of energy all the baby books promised. Can't wait to see what happens in these last 10 weeks ...

  • I finally was able to concentrate for about an hour at 11pm.  I DID learn that I can't stay up til midnight and get up at 6pm and expect to be functioning the next day!

I ended up leaving work early (after the lectures) and sleeping for 4 hours :)

Sleep is good.   Now I have to work on my next lecture after sleeping half the day.

ME TOO! Plus, I get super sleepy at 2:00 every day, like clockwork.

  • I think I figured some of it out!

My thyroid meds were bumped up on Friday (so that shouldn't be much of a problem).  My allergies have been bad again since Saturday, and since I can't take Allegra-D...  I've been taking regular Claritin.   And I stopped drinking most of the caffeine I had been (black tea).. and I had a cup of tea at work today and was SOO much more focused!
