Does the heartrate seem low to anyone? help me ease my fear

Last week I went in for an emergency u/s because I had brown spotting and with my past history they had me come in right away. I measured perfect at 6w1d and the tech measured the heartrate at 99bpm. Now I am reading all these posts about the heartrates being over 100 and googled (yes I shouldn't have done it) that at 6 weeks should be atleast 103. I know its only 4 beats difference but I am scared we will go into our 7 week appointment there won't be heartbeat.

Is this really low for what I was? Please help me ease my fears thanks girls!

  • Sounds like we both had a rough weekend. I had spotting too and went to my doctor today and had an ultrasound. I'm 6 weeks 6 days and the heart rate is 126. I think yours sounds fine for being so early! When I went to my first appointment a week ago (prior to all this spotting drama) my doctor said he didn't want to do an ultrasound because if we didn't see a heartbeat so early he didn't want me to worry.

  • I went in for my first appt at 6 wks 4days my was 87 bpm, My niece was 80 and she is 8 yrs old. my ob gyn said that at 6 wks the heart starts beating and it take some time to catch up. She said she used to have the patients come back the next week and it would be in the 100's by then.

  • At 5 weeks 6 days the heartrate was too small to measure. One week later, at 6 weeks 6 days, it was in the 130s. I think this sounds perfectly normal!

  • When I went in for my u/s at 6w1d our baby heart rate was 110. I was so nervous so I did a little research and found out that a "normal" heart rate for a 6 to 7 week baby is 90 to 110. So don't worry!
  • I wouldn't worry too much. You were clearly in a stressful situation so FX it was "low" because of that & it's normal at your new u/s.

I just read this on the American Pregnancy Assoc. website. When I had my 1st u/s at 7w1d the hb was 127. My 2nd u/s (due to spotting) at 8w2d the hb was 171. That's quite a jump for one week. Now, the hb is in the 140-150 range. There's lots of regulating going on so I wouldn't worry!

  • it sounds normal.   i just had an ultrasound too (bc of spotting!) and the heartbeat was 102 at 6w4d.   i wouldn't worry over just a couple of beats :)

  • It sounds fine. And there also could have been an error when measuring, it could easily really be 103

  • It sounds like the heart just started beating, so the baby's heart rate was probably similar to your HR. It should dramatically increase over the next few weeks before it levels off.
