diagnoses and a question (GI related)

Hi all.

My 2 month old boy twin has been having a lot of issues.  We've officially been diagnosed with severe GERD, Sandifer's Syndrome, tortilicollis, and now Laryngomalacia.  We are going to a pediatric GI next Tuesday.

What can I expect at the GI appt?  Should I feed him before we go?  Feed him after?  If they have to do tests, will I get them that day or come back?

Thank you all so much in advance!

Re: diagnoses and a question (GI related)

  • I would call the GI and specifically ask- I think it probably is different for everyone. Our initial visit with GI when DS was an infant was pretty basic. We gave him some info about what was going on, told him about the condition DS has (Russell-Silver Syndrome) and some of the common GI concerns and then he gave his ideas of how to move forward which included a swallow study, reflux meds and a delayed gastric emptying scan.

I doubt they would be doing any specific testing that would require them to eat/not eat since that stuff is usually scheduled with a different dept (radiology) and not something your GI will be doing himself if that makes any sense. I would ask just to be safe b/c the GI may want to watch them actually eat to see how they do/observe symptoms and behavior. HTH! Good luck!
