How to switch formulas

The pedi office gave me a sample of Similac Alimentum & Enfamil Nutramigen I'm thinking of trying her on the Similac. We've tried three different Enfamil formulas and none worked. She is on Gerber Gentle now so is it best to just switch over or do it gradually. Other times when switching I'd just cold turkey switch but I wasn't sure with this type of formula and knowing the taste may be weird for her. What did you do?

Re: How to switch formulas

  • When we switched to nutramigen we did it cold turkey. The GI we see said to try it gold turkey because we will get a answer quicker that way rather than half and half. That if he stopped eating than go to a oz of nutramigen and the rest of what he was eating and get him on it that way but we did not need to

Yep - cold turkey here.  DD needed immediate reliefe so we made the switch cold turkey to nutramigen and then again to alimentum.  I'm grateful that she had very little problem with the taste.
