1st Trimester

1st Appt today- 10 weeks

Had my first appt today- felt like it took forever to get here.  Dr. said everything looks good so far.  They don't do an ultrasound til 20 weeks but we tried to listen to the heartbeat and we couldn't hear it.  He said my uterus is tipped and that's why- so we go back in 2 weeks to hear it.  If we can't hear it then- then he'll do an ultra sound.  Anyone else go through this at all- or have a tipped uterus???  he said no worries but of course I am a little.  I'm not going to get all worked up about it but just wanted to see if anyone else has been there.  Thanks!

Re: 1st Appt today- 10 weeks

  • My doc told me that at my 8 week appt and that there was no point bringing out the doppler, cause she didn't want me to worry if we didn't hear anything.

I have an u/s sched. for my IPS screening on June 29, so I am really looking forward to that to make sure all is well.

  • I had a u/s at my 8w appointment & I've heard it's normal to not hear the heartbeat until 12w with a doppler. I was told a few years ago that I have a tipped uterus but as your pregnancy progresses it'll line up where it's "supposed" to be & after birth it'll go back to being tipped with no problems!
  • I had my appt at 10 weeks also and we could not hear it on the doppler. She told me not to worry, that is very common. She said she could do an US to put my mind at ease, but would have to bill me for it.

I work in radiology so I just came downstairs and had a friend take a peek for me, I saw the HB and everything looked good. The baby was moving around like crazy! Which was probably why she couldn't pin point it.

So don't worry!! It's hard not to worry a little, but I am sure you will hear it in 2 weeks.

  • I had my first appointment last week at 10 weeks and hoped to hear the heart beat too, but no luck!!  I was told not to worry that that's too early.  Good to hear that others had the same thing!
