Anyone hoping NOT go go into labor before scheduled C Section?

I have a C Section scheduled for the 18th, next Monday and I am hoping I don't go into labor before that date. My Dr. is going to be out of town all this week and I just want for things to go smoothly on my scheduled date. Anyone else?

Re: Anyone hoping NOT go go into labor before scheduled C Section?

  • Yep. My baby is double footling breech, meaning a much higher risk of cord prolapse than other breech babies if I go into labor, especially if my water breaks first. My c-section isn't scheduled yet cause I'm still hoping LO will turn with an ECV, but from what I've researched, I would much rather have a scheduled c-section than an emergency one. I've heard anecdotally there are benefits to the baby if it gets to labor a bit, but I haven't actually found any scientific evidence in that regard. Plus, the 15% chance of cord prolapse outweighs whatever those benefits may be, in my personal case and opinion.

  • Not exactly the same - but I do have some whacky a$$ scheduling issues.

I'm hoping NOT to go into labor until Wednesday night when my midwife gets back from caring for her elderly Mother.  And then, I have to go into labor before Friday AM.  Then not on Saturday or Sunday because of anti-midwife OBs on schedule.   But, then next Monday would be okay.

It's stressful to say the least.

  • Baby is frank breech and I feel like we have no hope of him turning at this point.  I'd much rather go in for a schedule csection than going into labor and panicking to get there and in an emergency csection situation.  My OB wanted to do the c/s on the 18th but we pushed it back to the 21st so H could be around home more when we are released.  I'm nervous I'll go into labor between the 18th and 21st.  I just feel like the risks are more than we are comfortable with so I can't labor long at home and my dr doesn't support trying an external version so here we are just waiting for the 21st unless baby decides to turn on his own!

FX that all goes well and no labor for you, mama!

My LO flips between frank breech and transverse.  I am scheduled for ECV and induction tomorrow.  I started having prodromal labor on June 1 (I had it for 2 weeks with DS).  Labor = c-section, whereas with ECV I have a 50% chance of vaginal delivery.  So, yes, I have been hoping not to go into labor.  24 hrs to go, and things are looking good :)

DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

Aw, thanks! Good luck to you too. I hope the ECV works! Mine is still a few days from now, but I'm only 38 weeks with my first, so I'm feeling good about my timing.

And good luck to all the other mamas out there hoping to delay labor :)

  • Yep, mine is 6/22 and I really want the doctor who did my other two c/s to do this one. Plus ds1 turns 3 on thursday. I do not want to miss his birthday. As much as I'm in so much freakin pain I really don't want him coming before 6/22
