It won't let me reply to a post unless I hit reply to someone else's post..There's no box at the bottom for a reply.  Am I missing something?

Nope. That's how the Bump works.

You reply to the original poster's (OP) post by hitting the reply button at the bottom of their post.  Anyone's post on the thread would work as well...if you want to reply to a specific person you need to use the quote button.

Oh okay just checking.  I'm just used to The Knot where they had the box at the bottom.
