TTC After a Loss

Average BBT Numbers?

Took my temp for the first time to start charting today. 96.8!

From all my Google'ing (lol, that word), that seems like it's a hair under average.

I decided I'd see what you ladies thought based on your own experiences.

Other than that, have an awesome Monday morning :D

Re: Average BBT Numbers?

  • That is usually right around my coverline. I average 96.76 and lower pre-O and just over 97 (usually around 97.2ish) post-O.

  • This was my first cycle ACTUALLY charting, and pre-O I was right around 97.0, with some temps around 96.8.  Post O has been higher of course.

I woudn't worry about it though--seems to be in normal range...

  • Super. So I'll keep charting away and see how this goes. I'm surprised I even remembered. It helped having the thermometer right next to my phone.

  • Everyone is going to be a bit different, but the median average is pre-O temps in the high 96's/low 97's and post-O temps in the high 97's/low 98's.

  • Yup!!  I have my phone alarm set to go off at the same time every morning (sucks on the weekends, but it's worth it), and my BBT right next to it :)  I also keep paper and pen there since on the weekends I am too lazy to enter it in my phone right away--I just scribble it down and go back to sleep :)

  • Keep in mind that your "average" pre and post O temps are going to vary/depend on when your temping time is.  Since your body temperature is falling or rising the whole time you sleep, this means that someone who, say temps at 2:00AM (like me) is going to have different "averages" than someone who temps at 6:AM

Also, there usually isn't a whole lot of meaning behind any single temp. As long as you see a temp shift (which I'm sure you will) then you're good.

This explains a lot, thank you ladies!

This also reminded me I have to wake up at 6 AM on weekends now too...*sigh* Sucks but like krisztina33 says, totally worth it :)

It's not so bad really, esp once you get use to it.  I always temp while half asleep since I do it in the middle of the night (my DS still wakes up, plus I wake up to pee so the only time I can really count on 3 consecutive hours of sleep is at 2AM)  and then I just recall it on the thermometer when I'm ready to wake up.  Easy peasy.

  • My temp seems to dip a few days before O and its gone as low as 96.4. This month I think it was 96.6. I was surprised when I started charting to see how low my BBT was. Sounds normal to me! I work as a dialysis tech and for some reason people with kidney failure have WAY low temps. I have gotten to were I see anything above 98 and I automatically think fever. ha ha
