Teething fevers

How high of a fever did your LO get during teething?  We just got over a 4 day fever battle where it peaked at 104.  I think there might be more going on than just teething, although she seems to be past it now, and happy as could be.

Re: Teething fevers

  • I was going to post the SAME THING!  DD hit 104.5 on Friday.  Took her to the doc and bloodwork did not indicate she was fighting an infection.  Then I noticed a MOLAR coming in.  The fever finally broke and then the screaming and agonizing pain kicked in.  I feel so horrible for her.

  • Hmm, so I thought for sure it was roseola or something, and DH stayed home with her and sure enough she just started getting a rash.

He took her to the doctor and......turns out she has strep!  Ugh....my poor baby :(

Oh, and 3 teeth coming in.  No wonder she's miserable

  • Oh no!  We went to the after hours clinic Thursday night and they swabbed her for strep but it was negative.  Her bloodwork showed no elevated white blood cells and she had no other symptoms whatsoever.  It's tough to be a baby!

    crap

DS got 102.9 last night but has a bunch of chest/nose gunk. Went to the dr today and has elevated WBC, so he has something. I wish it was a tooth.

I was going to suggest Roseola. That's a miserable virus. Poor thing. Hopefully they gave her the shot, she should be better in a few days.
  • Teething can cause a low-grade (up to 100) fever only- if your baby has a fever higher than that, there is something else going on and it may well be viral which won't show up on any tests.  It is most likely ears or URI but can be other things as well.

  • My son had a fever of 103.2 for three days last week while we were on vacation! And on Sunday the rash came! I just confirmed with the dr yesterday that it was roseola! Saying he is misirable is an understatement!

  • Mason has reached 103 when teething. I am so glad I saw this post and that some of you went to the dr and proved it was teething... I get sick of people telling me that it cannot get that high when teething!

My god, YES! We took our LO to the emergency clinic last Sunday because it was 104.5. It was lower and controlled Friday -Saturday and she was sleeping through the night and acting normal, but when it was that high we had to bring her in. They did a blood draw and cath'd her to rule out any infection. Sure enough as she was laying down and screaming I saw those swollen gums. It broke later on Sunday, and one of those molars just popped through.
