Long story short, I used the bathroom last night and there was some burgundy-ish, maroon colored blood on my tissue and it wasn't much. To be precautionary, BF and I went to the ER. I got a vaginal scope and an ultrasound which determined that my baby had no heartbeat; mind you, I SAW my baby's heart beating RAPIDLY on our first ultrasound two weeks ago. The resident OB suggested that I schedule a D and E ASAP. What bothers me is that I have not passed any clots, and I'm not experiencing any pain or bleeding. When the PA initially examined me, she said she didn't see anything out of the ordinary and to wait for the ultrasound. Is a miscarriage bound to happen (eventually?)? Am I thinking too much into this? I will be calling my OB first thing in the am because I would like another ultrasound done. My heart is telling me they could be wrong... Has anyone experienced this?

Re: Ten Weeks and No Heartbeat... Need Advice!
Both of my miscarriages were "missed" meaning I had NO signs of them whatsoever except looking at the ultrasound screen and seeing it with my own eyes.
There is no rush to do a D&E. You can ask for a repeat ultrasound or wait to miscarry naturally which can take a couple weeks.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry you are going through this.
I have had two miscarriages, and had no bleeding with either one of them....no cramping, spotting or bleeding to say that anything is wrong. It's called a missed miscarriage. I would recommend that you follow up with your OB to discuss options (you don't necessarily need a D&C if it is a missed miscarriage).
I am so sorry you are going through this, it is heartbreaking loss.
With my missed miscarriage, I had no spotting, bleeding, cramping, nothing. I went in for an ultrasound at 12 weeks and the baby had no heartbeat and stopped developing around 9 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and the baby was perfect, heartbeat and all. Sometimes these things happen with no warning.
My doctor did send me to the hospital for a more high tech ultrasound to confirm what we already knew that afternoon. If your ob recommends that and you feel as though you need it, I would do it. Good luck to you and again sorry for your loss.
I agree. I am so sorry.
If the heart was beating at 8 weeks, and now it's not, then yes, the baby has passed. It's called a "missed miscarriage." You can either get a D&C, or you can wait to see if things happen naturally.
Certainly, if you want another U/S to be sure, I can understand that. Call your regular OB and ask.
T&P
I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a second opinion before scheduling ANY type of procedure, but if the heart was beating, and now it's not... I'm sorry that you're going through this.
sadly I have had this happen to me too, I went for my 12 week ultrasound. At the time I still had pregnancy symptoms and was sure I would see a heartbeat unfortunately I did not. I did not have any cramping, spotting or bleeding previous to the ultrasound. We found out the the fetus had stopped growing at 9 weeks 6 days, and I had carried it for 2 weeks 3 days before I found out.
I am sorry you are going through this (((HUGS)))
I'm sorry for your loss.
I had a similar experience back in October.
I asked my OB what he thought was best as far as passing things naturally or scheduling the D&C, and he suggested the D&C since the baby had stopped growing two weeks prior, and there was no guarantee as to how long it would take for everything to pass on its own, if it did all pass on its own, in which case I would need a D&C anyways. I wanted it over faster, so I scheduled the D&C for two days later.
The night before the procedure, I passed most everything on my own at home, but still had the procedure done anyways to make sure everything was gone. The procedure itself was a breeze, I spotted here and there afterwards, but didn't pass any more heavy blood or clots.
I wish I had been able to get in for the procedure the day before and not had to pass anything on my own at home, because 1) they would have been able to send the tissue for genetic testing and 2) I wouldn't have had to pass everything at home in the middle of the night and dealt with the cramping, etc. It was definitely more emotionally traumatizing for me that way.
Good luck in whichever route you choose, and again I am so sorry for your loss.

My BFP Chart
My first m/c, I had no pain, no blood. When I found out there was no hb and it had stopped like 4 weeks earlier, I was shocked cause I had no signs of a loss.
My second m/c, I had a hb at the 6 week u/s. In the 11th week I think it was I started feeling some pain and was bleeding. When they did the u/s, it had showed the h/b stopped at 7 weeks.
Hopefully everything is ok with you, from my experience, sometimes it can take weeks before your body will start the m/c process. I'd check with your doctor before doing a D&C.

I am so so sorry. I had a similar experience in March - except no bleeding to even indicate a problem. Great u/s at 6 and 8.5 weeks - lost the baby at almost 11 weeks. We chose to have a D&C that night because mentally I needed to move on and didn't want to wait it out indefinitely. Plus, over 10 weeks they say it's less likely to be a complete mc naturally and you could end up with a D&C anyway.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
I would love to say that they made a mistake but if you saw a heartbeat and then didn't on that ultrasound. The baby more than likely passed away.
When I had a miscarriage it started with a spec of blood and didn't actually get hardcore till a week later. I wish you luck and I am so sorry
