Laptop and embryo

Hi ladies, I got my BFP this past week, and from my calculations I'm 3 weeks seeing doc next week).  I'm wondering if there's any danger to the jellybean with me using my laptop on my lap.  Am I irradiating the embryo?

Re: Laptop and embryo

  • As long as it is not over heating on your lap you should be fine. If it is overheating this can over heat the baby and destroy your hard drive. Putting a laptop on a flat surface such as a table is better for the computer and will keep you cooler also.

  • DH bought me a laptop pillow, pillow on the bottom, flat wood surface on the top...it's perfect to keep my body cool but be able to browse comfortably in bed or on the couch.

  • I browse in bed, so I put it on a pillow to avoid overheating my lap/belly.

I try to remember that when I was PG with LO I was scared too. However... there's scared with reason and irrational fear. There are women around the world that live in very high temps and are 100% fine in their pregnancies (minus being uncomfortable) as long as they remain hydrated. Just use common sense.. don't put it on your bare belly when hot and if it gets uncomfortable (where you wouldn't on your stomach regardless of whether or not you are pregnant) then put a pillow under it or sit at a table. GL and PLEASE learn to relax and enjoy your pregnancy!

  • Laptops do not give off ionizing radiation. No worries.

Huh?  You can't be 3 weeks PG and know you are pregnant--that's about the time the embryo implants, and you won't get a positive pregnancy test until nearly 4 weeks.   Are you 5 weeks from your last menstrual period (approx 3 weeks from ovulation)?

I was 3 weeks 1 day when I had a positive HPT. 3 weeks 2 days with a positive blood test. It is possible if you know when you ovulated and baby implanted early.

But she can't be 3 weeks along and have found out prior to 3 weeks.

This. I'm guessing she means 3 weeks since conception.

(FWIW, I also got my BFP at 3w1d, so I'm not saying it's impossible to know at that point)
