1st Trimester

TMI! Symptoms?

For almost two weeks, I have been constipated with the occasional relief. (I try to drink plenty of water, and eat foods high in fiber for help) During this time period, I have eaten foods that I occasionally enjoyed, and thought to be okay (beef jerky and garlic parmesan vinaigrette salad dressing). When eating those identified foods on separate occasions/ days of the week, approximately 15-20mins after I ate, I had diarrhea. Is this an uncommon pregnancy symptom? Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Totally normal to waver between the two. So weird, right?  You and I have the same due date :)

  • TMI but yesterday my stomach was upset all day and I finally passed my hard poop. About 20 minutes later I had terrible diarrhea. Totally unpleasant but this happens constantly.

  • Well this is a relief. Any remedies to reduce and calm this symptom?

Congrats CupecakeKaper! I go to my 1st ultrasound June 18. Very excited to see whats going on, and curious to see if my due date remains the same. What about you?

Unfortunately not that I know of. Besides finding a bathroom and getting it out asap. Hopefully by week 12 it will be all better.

  • I had the exact same problem! In fact 2 days in a row I ate a loaded baked potato and about 20 minutes later HORRIBLE Diarrhea. Shortly after becoming nauseas for the rest of the night. I guess baby doesn't like baked potatoes!!

I don't have my first appointment until July 9, but I'm also curious. I hope mine doesn't change much because feb 8 is my birthday and feb 4 is DDs.

I have IBS, so the alternating diarrhea/constipation is most certainly old news, but it's also very frustrating... you don't know if you should take medication because the opposite extreme could naturally be around the corner!! My best advice is start a fiber regimen now. For me, with my IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) it did cause some pain the first week or two, but you must stick with it and the pain will pass, as will the nice not too hard, not too soft poop :)
