Re: morning sickness tips?

  • I found Fever Tree brand ginger ale helped a little (more like, it was the only fluid I could keep down)

Honestly though, most everything was like throwing glasses of water on the fire of London.

It's a miserable period, but the result is worth it

  • Even though I HATE it every time I start to feel sick I have a cracker or a bite of toast.  It helps for a while.

  • I liked Gins Gins ginger hard candies. You can get them on Amazon. Also, the smell of lemon for some reason.

This-I have to eat something every hour, even if it's just a couple of crackers.  Also-taking a half unisom with 50mg of b6 every night seems to help

  • Zofran, its the only thing that ever helped me.  And even that just kept my from throwing up, not the horrifying nausea.  You can also try seabands, vitamin b6, and keeping some food in your stomach.  Good luck.

  • Eating all the time for sure.  Drinking fizzy stuff like ginger ale or sparkling water (gets the burps out).  Gin Gins are my saving grace!  In fact I need to go order more right now.

  • With DD I found sour patch kids helped the most. I also liked the sour preggy pops. With this pregnancy, my m/s hasn't been too bad yet (but I'm not even 6 weeks) and I've just been chewing mint gum and drinking ice cold water when I feel queasy.

  • For 5 weeks, I learned I had to eat constantly. It was a huge pain in the butt to eat when I wasn't hungry, but if I went 2 hours without something new in my stomach I would feel sick. It didn't matter if I wolfed down 4 pieces of pizza at dinner at 6:00...I needed to eat again at 8:00... so, I also learned to go easy at regular meals and save some for the snacks. (This is a handy skill to practice for 3rd tri as well, when your eyes are WAY bigger than your stomach.)

Now, I still have the box of saltines on my bed-side stand...

  • when I first wake up I have a few sips of water and eat a couple saltines before I get out of bed.  Then I get up to shower and while I get ready I continue to eat saltines and water.  That seems to take care of the mornings for me.  The rest of the day I just make sure I have food in my stomach at all times.  I also suck on peppermint lifesavers.  My m/s really hasn't been very bad yet tho.  Fingers crossed it stays that way!
  • Wearing Sea Bands on my wrists helped me to be able to eat.  Fizzy drinks are also helpful!

I definitely feel the worst first thing in the morning so before I even get out of bed, I try to eat a few peanut butter crackers. Sometimes I wake up ready to puke but most days I find if I can even eat a little bit, it stops me from throwing up. I work part time so at bedtime the nights before I work, I take a dose of Zofran and that helps me feel reasonably well when I get up at 545 to get ready for work. I also need to eat every 1-2 hours otherwise the nausea comes back. Good luck...it's no fun feeling sick.

  • Thanks for posting this.  My nausea just started less than 48 hours ago and thanks to this post I was well prepared for my first day at work with it.  Eating a little bit every 2 hours seems to help and those ginger hard candies are great. I'm at about 6 1/2 weeks (honestly - I'm not exactly sure where where I am).  I read the 8th week is when you are most likely to get MS.
