Check out ecobabybuys, or babysteals for their deals of the day. Great prices on one or two items only/day. They have both specialty and mainstream stuff. If you check regularly you might find something you'd buy anyway for a lot less.
For nursery design I love to browse Posh Tots & Land I Nod (for inspiration ONLY - omg $$$) I plan on DIYing several pieces from a couple different collections!
Also, I you're debating names already there's an awesome site called Nymbler where you can put in names you like & it will give you other names that are related (similar era, feel, origin, etc). It has been great fun!!
I started building my online registry early so that I could spend lots of time researching and tweaking. So I really enjoyed reading the suggestions on Lucie's List and then found myself on sites like Target, Buy Buy Baby, Amazon, and here a lot (the nursery and baby gear forums, plus advice from my BMB and STMs). Etsy does have some adorable stuff, but I find it kind of expensive most of the time. In fact, I find that to be true with a lot of baby stuff and baby websites :-/ But it's entertaining to look anyway!!

Etsy can be seriously addictive for baby things.
