I love the idea of being able to wear LO and run around in a water park with my older DS, or use the water sling to take the boys swimming, but I just have a hard time believing that's ok with a baby...Is there an age recommendation for something like that, or would it be ok as long as the water isn't too cold? Even if we hung out in the shallow end, I would still be nervous about baby getting splashed or water in their eyes or something. What is your experience like? Thanks!
ETA F/U ?- Is there a complete tutorial on how to make a water ring sling yourself? I just see bits and pieces that I can fit together, but since it's for use in the water I'd like to be really, really sure I'm doing it right!
Re: Age for water sling?
DS was 3 months old when we first took him to an indoor pool. (He was born in January, so outside wasn't an option.) Baby will let you know if he doesn't like it and your intuition will tell you if something just isn't right and you should get out. Rinse baby off well after being in the chlorine and have a good time! Baby may LOVE being splashed, watching the other kids, etc. If it is a bad experience, you can get out, right?
We alternated wearing him in a wrap (the white criss-cross on me) and holding him. Because it was cold, we put a long-sleeved shirt on him to keep the cool air off his skin.
