Another detergent question

I'm a FTM and have got my stash all ready - prefolds/covers and Softbums Ai2s/Pockets. Now for the detergent - I live out of the country, so I can't get my hands on most of the detergents recommended. I don't really feel up to making my own. I've heard I should start with a good detergent, so I know what is a good wash, etc. I'm thinking about starting with Tide, since I can get that here. I have a top loader washer and will be line drying.

My questions are: What kind of Tide do you use?  What is your wash routine? Has anyone had luck with other detergents that aren't "CD friendly?"

    The tide users on the board use Tide Ultra HE original.   There is a Tide original that you may be able to get outside the us that was what everyone used before they stopped distributing it here in the us.

    We use the Tide Ultra HE. 

    I wash everyday and I set it to Heavy Duty Hot/Cold and an extra rinse.

    Line dry covers and dry on high the inserts.

    Do you need an HE washer to get good results from the tide ultra HE?

    My mom uses Tide HE in her toploader works just fine.
