Losing plug or just discharge? Confused FTM

All of the sudden I felt like I started my period. When I went to the bathroom, I had a thicker discharge (mine has been mostly watery) that resembles the consistency of runny snot with a slight yellow tint. I changed my panty liner and about 2 minutes later the same thing happened again, each time about the size of a quarter with no odor. Could this be my mucus plug?

I was 1 cm dilated and 0% effaced at my appointment on Wednesday and will be 38 weeks tomorrow.

  • Same thing happened to me today pretty sure it is the plug but from what I have read it means nothing as far as labor is concerned

  • It could be your plug, but it also sounds like normal thick(ish) discharge. When I lost my plug, it all came out at once, was about 2-3 inches long and kinda solid. Like a huge blob of snot. It was also flecked with blood. There was no mistaking it. But, it's different for everyone so who knows?

  • Sounds like your plug if you ask me.

I have been having the same exact thing and asked my OB. She said it is normal for it to sometimes come out in "pieces" instead of one solid blob. Good luck!

  • Sounds like your MP. But it regenerates. I lost mine at once around 37 wks and now I am losing bits and pieces again...

It sounds like you are losing part of your plug. That's what mine was like when I was losing bits and pieces of it. However, when I lost the whole thing there was no mistaking it! It was DISGUSTING.
