39 weeks 1 day and absolutely nothing.... Any suggestions?

Had my 39 week appointment yesterday and birth canal is still closed and firm. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to try to get something happening, besides sex?  Doctor is talking induction next Friday regardless, if I start dilating on my own or if no progress is made.  I really at least would like to start dilating on my own.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!  Thanks!

You can get evening primrose oil capsules and take them orally and we use it as lube to - they just pop open if you squeeze... natural - no side effects... I am walking every night too - at least a mile and of course keep having sex... I'll be 39 weeks Tuesday so I'm close behind you, but I don't know what I am cause I'm not having them check me until Tuesday!!! Here's to hoping for weekend baby arrivals!!! Good luck

Awww don't worry JUST yet i was just asking this question today and all the mommies simply said "When the baby is ready things will happen!". I know you're on that last week but see what happens in the next few days. I'm 0 effaced and 0 dilated so I share your pain.

I don't even get checked, just so I can avoid this exact type of stress.  I've known other women to go from nothing to having their LO a day or two later, though.  So try not to worry too much.  It'll happen when your LO is ready.

I had an acupuncture treatment today, although I don?t know yet if it worked we will see  I was at one on Wed. and my doc is also talking induction if I don't go by 41 weeks I am trying to avoid that

I went in for my 39wk1d appointment on Friday and had 0 progress. 

I had my baby on Tuesday afternoon.

Yep, my best advice is  DON'T PANIC.  You have plenty of time.  It's not unusual for FTMs to have zero progress until labor begins.

You can do the EPO, have lots of sex, bounce on a pilates ball, eat spicy foods, take long walks, get accupuncture.  But, in the end baby/body just need to be ready.
