WBC and taxoplasmosis question

Sorry, also posted on 3rd Trimester

My glads are swollen and my white blood cell count is a little bit high. I'm feeling pertty ok. My OBGYN isn't concerned and thinks I'm fine but my Primary Care Physician is a bit worried. I have read that pregnant women have higher white blood cell counts than non-pregnant women so I'm thinking maybe that's why my OBGYN isn't concerned. My Primary Care Physician now wants me to come back into the office to have my blood tested for taxoplasmosis. Now I'm freaking out a little bit. Has anyone else noticed that their white blood cell counts are a bit higher with pregnancy and has anyone been diagnosed with taxoplasmosis during their 3rd trimester? If so, what happened?

Re: WBC and taxoplasmosis question

  • Is there a reason they/you think you have toxoplasmosis?  It's an extremely rare diagnosis in the US.  I'd go ahead with the testing, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.
