I am an elementary teacher so I'm using my summer vacation to do a lot of research and get ready before I get certified (hopefully by the end of Septembter). I was told at my informational meeting that I should know what daycare my foster kiddos would attend before placement so I am starting to research daycares and I was wondering what you would recommend. Would it be easier for school age children (the age group I will be fostering is infant- 8 years) to attend the school I work at or should I have them attend the school they should attend based on where I live (which is a great school also)? This would mean they would need after school daycare because I would not be able to pick them up at their dismissal time. If I go this route I need to find a day care that accepts CCMS and also will pick up the kiddos from school. I also wonder if they had behavioral or educational problems if it would be easier on me to work on resolving the issue(s) with teachers, principal, counselor, etc that I haven't been working with for the last 6 years. And lastly, what (if any) experience do you have with putting your foster kiddos in daycare as far as payment, subsidies, last minute placements, etc. Thanks in advance for your knowledge.
