Baby Shower Favors anyone?

I apologize if this has already been discussed, I searched and didn't find anything. So I am curious if any of you will be making any baby shower favors to give out? Is this something that  the host typically does or the mommy? I am wanting to make a small favor for everyone. Any ideas?

Re: Baby Shower Favors anyone?

  • My SIL made them- she took a mason jar and put homemade cookie mix ingredients in it and then pit a bottle nipple on top with a recipe card the chocolate chips were pink and blue.  Another popular one is a homemade cookie.

  • The hostess is in charge of favors, but you could always offer to help. My mom is making chocolate lollipops for mine (the kind you make with a mold).

  • I made them for my shower and all of my friends have made their own for their showers as well. I used old baby food jars, filled them with different kinds of tootsie rolls (blue/vanilla and regular ones), and covered the top with fabric. We put a little round label that said "Thank you" on the top and tied a blue ribbon around it. It was kind of time consuming, but they did end up looking really cute. My friend did blue cake pops (she had a boy) and another friend of mine just did little bags of baby shower mints.

  • I paid for my shower favors. I wanted a candy buffet, so I purchased all the candy and bags. I felt like I need to contribute so that was my way.
  • I understand that the host generally takes care of it. But if you need ideas, here are a few from showers I've been to. All the memorable ones have been edible--that's usually more of a crowdpleaser than a trinket.

    - cookies shaped and iced to look like onesies

    - cupcakes wrapped individually. Wish I could find the wrappers--they were a square scalloped box at the bottom with cellophane wrappers, tied with a ribbon and a tag.

-for my shower, my sister ordered custom colored Sixlets (https://nuts.com/chocolatessweets/color-chocolates/sixlets/?gclid=COzPtYbLvbACFQc5nAodOjRQqA) in yellow, silver and white and made bags with tags to match the invites. Big hit.

  • Edible favors are the best!  My mom is making homemade rice krispy treats on sticks and covering them in blue white chocolate and getting little candies that say "B is for Boy" and other cute sayings on them.  They will be wrapped in cellophane bags and put in the center of the tables to double as cute centerpieces too!  My other shower is going to have chocolate lollipops like another PP also said.  I wouldn't mind helping with the making/assembling of either favors, but everyone wants me to just take it easy, so I am trying to make them happy :) It is typical for the host/hostess to be responsible for the favors though.

  • I generally feel like the mother to be should stay out of the baby shower planning and hosting but I think the favors are different as they are kind of like a thank you gift. I see nothing wrong with making favors if you have an idea as long as your hostess is okay with it. I didn't make mine but I kind of wish I had, my hosts had enough to budget for and I would have liked to have had something more significant with a label that said thank you on them rather than our names and the date.
  • I ordered my own favors from Etsy. pickles have been my #1 craving throughout the pregnancy, so I contact a well known Etsy seller and ordered favor packages that are little soaps made in the shape of pickles (1 Gherkin and 2 pickle slices). I have a feeling they'll be a huge hit. :)

  • My mom gave out little egg timers that said "ready to hatch" on them. I think they were from Kate Aspen.

  • We ordered sugar cookies from a local bakery for my shower favors. My shower is "princess" themed so half of the cookies are shaped and decorated as pink princess crowns and the other half are shaped and decorated as a onesie with the baby's initial on it. They are going to be so cute... and delicious!
