Blah. Back from my ultrasound.

in Pregnant after a Loss
Empty gestational sac measuring 5w3d (about 12mm). I got my BFP at 3w2d so I just don't see how it's possible to be that far behind. Repeat next week to see if anything is actually growing in there but at this point I feel pretty pessimistic. Dr. Google says if there's no yolk sac by 12-13mm, it's probably a blighted ovum.

    My 2 yo was an empty sac at 5w3d-dOnt give up hope. Do you go back fOr a f/u u/s?

    Oh no. Blighted-ovum limbo was an awful time. I had my u/s at 5w5d and it was the same thing - the doctor said maybe my dates were just off (I knew they weren't), then at 7w I had another u/s and there was still only the sac.

    I really hope you get good news at your next u/s (maybe you just have a late bloomer??), but if it is a blighted ovum, I hope that the m/c is fast and relatively painless so you can start the physical and emotional healing process.


    BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
    BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

    My sac was empty at 5w1d.  Stay positive, I'm sure you just had late implantation which I think is what happened to me.  Sending you tons of T&P!

    My baby has been meaning a week behind too, but so far everything is good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

    Me: 37 DH: 40 TTC since 9/09
    #1 BFP 1/10/11; missed m/c discovered 7w5d
    IF Dx: Endo, hetero MTHFR mutation, poor morphology
    #1 IUI: 1/18/12 = BFN
    #1 IVF/ICSI 4/2/12 = 2 x 7-cell and 1 x 5-cell transferred (3dt) = BFP!!
    H was born at 41w2d on 12/29/12 - be still my heart!
    #2 IVF/ICSI 1/19/14 = 2 x 8 cells transferred (3dt) = BFP!! EDD 10/09/14
    M&W born at 37 weeks on 9/18/14 - I am the momma of 3 boys!!!

    Well obviously it could go either way BUT this happened to my friend and she is now 20 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby.  She too was charting and everything.  Hang in there!!!

    I agree with the others. Don't count yourself out yet.  I always tell myself, hope for the best and expect the worst....just somewhat of a mental prep for me. I hope all works out well for you.

    Don't give up! I have heard of a lot of people in your situation and go back and see a baby. Fx that your next u/s shows more.

    I'm so sorry. I am sure the waiting is going to b excruciating in the mean time. I really hope that it goes by quickly for you and that you get some answers. Being in limbo is awful.... I will be praying for good news for you.
