now i can't shake the feeling that i jinxed it by telling! have to keep reminding myself that everyone who has ever had a baby was, at some point, 5 weeks pregnant.

had to tell earlier than i would've preferred because we work together and will need to take time off together for doctor's appts. i also travel occasionally and wanted to boss know so she wouldn't make plans to ship me off to Guyana or something alone like she did last year!

It will be fine! It's scary to tell so early but at least now they will be understanding vs giving you the side eye if you call out or request time off for doctor appts.

I'm so terrified to tell my work because I just came back from a 4 month maternity leave in December. They are going to flip when I tell them that I'm going to be out again. I'm so nervous

I had to tell work around 7 weeks w/ DD. I had some spotting and m/s a couple of times and had to leave early and it was starting to look suspicious so I told them way earlier than I had planned. In fact, I think the only group I ended up waiting until 2nd tri with was facebook.

I'm going to have to end up telling way earlier than I really want too.  I'm a music teacher and this is my first year at my school. I've worked really hard this year to build up the choral program and it's REALLY important to me to keep the momentum going next year. I'm hoping my principal will let me be creative with maternity leave and come in to teach chorus (after 6 weeks or so) so that I would only miss one concert instead of 4. That would only work if my two choruses were scheduled back to back, which means my principal needs to get guidance to do that ASAP before the schedules for next year are written.  I'm really nervous about telling them so early, but I'm hoping that my dedication to not wanting to abandon my program will help.

I had to tell work as soon as I found out since I work around radiation. I know as soon as I get my fetal radiation badge EVERYONE in the department will know.

There's nothing you can do to "jinx" it! One coworker of mine knew we were trying and knew about my m/c, so I told her already. I also work with some things that are unsafe to be around while pregnant, so I needed her to help me avoid it without having to announce to everyone yet.

I've told a couple of coworkers because we're friends, they knew we were trying, and they just had babies themselves.  I like their advice and know that they'll keep quiet because they don't want to offend me.  I'll wait until the 2nd trimester to tell others and people on FB.

I'm going to have to tell my boss soon b/c I'm a college prof & I will miss a month or so of the quarter I normally teach the most in.  Good news is a couple of my old professors have retired lately, and I saw one of them this week, and he offered to lecture whenever I needed someone (hopefully he'll be able to fill in for a month!!)
