Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC After Getting off the Pill

I was on BC for about 6 years and finally got off the pill in Jan. I am very irregular still and cannot track my cycle because of that. Has anyone else experienced this issue? And when did you become regular again? I am starting to get a little frustrated but I know it takes time. It doesn't help that my husband travels a lot for work and we don't have as much time together so planning is really key for us. Thanks!

  • I got off BCP in January too and all of mine have been totally different. From 35 days to 47 days. Not to mention each cycle my symptoms are all over the place from none at all to the craziest PMS symptoms I have ever had. So I do think it takes a while to regulate, not sure I ever will, haha!

  • my doctor told me that it depends on your cycle before BC.  If you were regular before you should be after.  I tried to remember how mine was but i was young and stupid and didn't really pay attention to the number of days.  I do remember that I was fairly regular and so far have not had a problem.  even though that doesn't really mean anything cause who knows it could always change.

  • It took me over a year to regulate. My first cycles off the pill were "textbook", but then they got longer and longer. I got my BFP on a 39 day cycle.

Why does an irregular cycle keep you from tracking your cycle?

Many women on here use fertility friend for charting, which can be really helpful if your cycles are irregular.  Even if you aren't on board with temping (some women find in confusing, but if you watch the tutorials it's really easy to do), you can use it to keep track of your periods, CM, and OPKs.  The best part is that it is free.  If you are interested in it, you can check it out by clicking on my ticker below.

  • I just saw my doctor with this very concern. I was on Birth Control for 10 years and my cycles are very irregular... He told me to wait for 9 months of no conception before even considering Provera or other drugs...

  • I read it can take up to a year to regulate after the pill. Hopefully it won't take you that long. The pill made me crazy so I stopped using it. Now I am glad!
