Vitamins?

When we took DD to her 1st year appt, they tested her blood and it's a little on the low-end of normal for iron levels.  So the pedi suggested she take a multivitamin/supplement.  What is a good one for this age?  TriViSol?  Do I mix it with anything?  I never worried about this before since she was getting everything from formula.  Thanks for any help!

Re: Vitamins?

  • TriViSol should work.  Unfortunately, there aren't many options for babies our kids' age.

Our pedi put E on a straight iron supplement (FerInSol) and I can't get her take it.  I've tried giving it to her straight, mixing in juice (which I hate to do because we don't give juice), mixing it in food, etc. and she immediately rejects it.  I'm not sure what to do, but I hope you have better luck!

  • I've only seen PolyViSol where I shop and I've seen it both with and without iron so be on the lookout for that. The first time I got it, I got the iron one and it was NASTY. Smelled nasty, tasted nasty, resulted in nasty spit-up (back when she was still spitting...) but DD still took it just fine when I mixed it into her food. Most often I put it in her oatmeal in the morning, sometimes with added applesauce and/or cinnamon. Like PP said, though, there aren't many options of any kind of vitamin for kids this young.
