nbr: Anyone teach in TX?

I am having a heck of a time figuring out my best route. I have a MA license and was looking to become a Reading Specialist. Should I take 6 credits and become a Master Reading Teacher? Or should I get my master's and then take the test as a Reading Specialist?

  • I have taught reading in TX for 8 years now and I think both of your options would work.  A master's degree, in my opinion, would be the better option, but the master reading teacher would be beneficial too...it's just what works best for you and your family and the time it takes to obtain either degree or credit.

  • In my district the reading specialists have to have a Master Reading Teacher degree and certification.
