My Due Date was Sunday Aug. 17th. I had my 40 week appt on Thrusday the 14th and my Dr stripped my membranes and told me that if I wanted to he would set me up for induction on Monday the 18th as he was on call that day. So I told him to sign me up!! At this point I was at 2 cm and was feeling no contrax at all, so I had in my head I was going to have to be induced to get my baby out.
On Sat. the 16th in the morning my husband Matt came home from work at 7am and got into bed with me and we watched TV and just relaxed. I think he fell asleep at about 8. At 9:30 is when the fun began. I was still laying in bed and I felt a little gush as I rolled over. I didn't think it was anything as I had been having some heavy discharge for a couple of days at this point and was wearing a pad, so I just continued to relax. About 15 min later I felt a bigger gush. I was not really sure what was going and I didn't want to wake Matt up since he had worked all night, so I called my mom to ask her what she thought. She told me I needed to call the Dr and ask him, which is what I did next and he informed me to come to L&D as he was already there and get checked out.
So at 10:30 am I got in the shower and got Matt up for the 5 min drive to the hospital. Just as we were leaving I had a huge gush of fluid and that's when I knew this was it. We got to the hospital and found out I was 3 cm and my water had broken so we weren't going anywhere until we had our baby girl.
At this point they were trying to get a room ready for me so Matt and I walked the halls from about Noon until 3 pm. I wasn't feeling my contax hardly at all and was in pretty good spritis at this point until I found out I was only at a large 3 cm. I couldn't believe I hadn't progessed at all. So we tired the birthing ball and when that didn't seem to help they put me in the whirlpool tub for 40 min and at 7 pm I was still at 3 cm. I was starting to get nervous at this point because my Water had broken at 9:30 am.
So in order to get things moving the Dr. ordered pitocin, so at this point I asked for my epidural. My epidural was a so easy, I think the IV hurt more, and the Dr was very nice and joked around with us. My epi was in a working by 10pm and I decided to get some sleep.
I woke up around 1 am because I was feeling my contrax in my lower abdomen and they tried to move me around to get my epi to settle better but nothing worked. So they checked me and I was only at 5 cm. I couldn't believe it!! I was so scared that I was going to feel these horrible contrax forever since I was only at 5 cm. For the next hour I tried to breathe thru the contrax and then I started to throw up, not pleast when you are stuck on your back. But at 2am I started to have a lot of pressure, so the nurse checked me and I went from 5cm to 10cm in 1 hour. I couldn't believe it. So I pushed and pushed and pushed. I ended up pushing for 2 hours and Maizey Sue was born at 3:57 am on Aug. 17th, her due date.
She came out a little fussy wide eyed. She layed on my chest for about 45 min before they took her from me and the whole time I kept thinking how long is this baby, because it felt like she was wrapped all the way around me. Our baby was 8 lbs 8 oz. and 23 in long.
She such a good baby. She started to sleep thru the night at about 6 weeks and only really cries if she needs something. She is pretty laid back.
At her 2 month check she is in the 97th percentile for height and weight at 26 in long and 15.2 lbs. She is going to be a tall girl.
