Trouble TTC

Official intro after much lurking :)

 Morning ladies

I have been lurking for a month or so...usualy hang out on TTGP, but I thought I needed to stand up and do a formal introduction.

MY DH and I have been married since April 2011 and have been TTGP since May 2011.  I have been tested for FSH and Progesterone.  Everything normal there.  I chart CM, OPK, TEMP etc.  He has script for an SA but we were thinking of giving it another month or two before we do it.  (Enjoy the summer).  My Insurance didn''t even cover my B/W so this journey could quickly become expensive as I know many of you have had to deal with.

So Just wanting to say hello to all.  I have learned so much from you all so far. Come on Weekend!!

  • Welcome. I recognize you from TTGP. Sorry you have to be here. The ladies here are wonderful and very knowledgable.

You said you were tested for FSH and Progesterone. Did you have an HSG done? This can be helpful to know if your tubes are blocked.

GL on your journey. IF sucks and is expensive especially when insurance doesn't cover things.

  • Welcome to 3T.  I have a bit of advice that you can take or ignore.  Get the S/A done now...then enjoy the summer.  If it's bad news this will give you a few months to get him on vitamins (I recommend Fertility Blend for Men and Co-Q10 if it turns out he has MFI issues).  That way, at the end of summer you will have been proactive and might see some improvement in his numbers when you're ready to get down to it.

Obviously I hope that you get PG in the next few months, or that he get's his S/A and all is good.  But in hindsight we all have "Oh, I wish I had done X".  And there is no way to turn back the clock.  This is similar to advice I wish someone had given us so I wanted to make sure I passed it on to you.  You can take or leave it.

    Good luck no matter what!

Welcome to 3T and I agree with  Katib.  Have him do the SA now.  We are OOP and I think we paid $85 for the first one and $125 for the 2nd one (different RE offices)....so not too expensive.  GL!  :)

KatiB read my mind....I was thinking about the same thing!  There are some things that take time to make a difference like vitamins/supplements for MFI  or Metformin for PCOS ladies  (i've read 3-6 months on metformin....but some say less)  You don't have to start treatments right away!  Most clinics are cool with the patients going as quickly or slowly as comfortable.

Oh and welcome!!! I'm so sorry to see you over here (I recognize you from TTGP)  I hope you get to move on soon!

  • Welcome! I also agree you should go ahead and do the SA - it's inexpensive, easy, and you'll (possibly) be able to eliminate a big percentage of where problems lie if it comes back with good numbers.  And if not, you can spend the summer pumping him full of vitamins!!

    Good luck!

TTC since 1/11. "Unexplained" IF. 6/12 - 50mg Clomid + TI = BFN. 7/12 and 8/12 - 50mg Clomid + IUI = BFN. Taking a break and planning for a final IUI before the end of the year, but back to considering adoption. Repeat AMH of 0.67, ouch. 3rd try 10/12 - 100mg Clomid and back-to-back IUIs = BFP!
