So... a close friend called me tonight saying that her good friend just found out that she is 5 months pregnant with a healthy baby boy, and that her and her husband are pretty sure that they don't want her to keep the baby. She told her friend that she is close friends with a wonderful couple who were just getting started with the adoption process, and she told her all about us. She said her friend seemed excited.
I have no idea how often this happens, or how often it actually works out. I told her that we were interested, but we are working with an agency, so I would have to find out what the protocol for this is from my case worker. I am so nervous/excited/wary/freaking out!! I never expected to get a call like this.
She isn't due until October, so they have plenty of time to change their minds, but I am really hoping this might be our baby! I am trying not to get my hopes up, but its really hard. I emailed our case worker, and I will see what she has to say. We aren't even finished with our home study and interviews yet, but I guess we will be by October.
We aren't telling anyone IRL, but I had to share with someone! Thanks for listening :-)
Re: Got a Call About a Baby
That's wonderful - congratulations!
This was the case for me as a BM. Well, I wasn't married, but I found LO's parents through a mutual friend, kind of by happenstance (of course, I personally believe it was God, but it did look very random).
Basically they were working with an agency, and that agency... took me on? Started counseling me, educating me, etc. I'm really glad that happened.
Yay for you! And I pray everything works out in LO's best interest!
