Halle/Hallie

This is currently one of DH's favorite names, but I don't know how I feel about it just yet. It has added meaning (especially for DH) because his beloved grandfather went by "Hal" short for Harold. I'm just slightly worried she'll constantly be called "Hailey."

WDYT? I'd love to hear any opinions!

Also, which spelling do you prefer? I'm partial to Halle, but DH likes Hallie.

I prefer Halle b/c of Halle Berry. You'll likely have to correct people often, though, b/c Hailey is the more common pronunciation. Great meaning!

My friend's daughter is Halle (prononced like Halle Berry)...I would think the other way would get confused for "Hailey" a lot.

I like Halle. I think Hallie would have a greater chance to be pronounced 'Haley.'

I'm thinking you're definitely right about the Hallie spelling getting mistaken for Hailey a lot!

This name always makes me think of the character Hallie Lowenthal from My So-Called Life. 

I wouldn't have trouble pronouncing either spelling, but Halle looks a little more mature.

My BFF is named Hallie. There is rarely a person she meets that does not call her Hailey. She absolutely  hates it.

Not just the building-  Halle's was a department store chain in Cleveland.   The department store in the Drew Carey show was "set" in the Halle Building (which still exists).
