So we are super-early in the pregnancy game but my DH and I were discussing names and we both like Francine. He sees it as a very feminine, pretty name while I actually think more spunky and offbeat. My big concern is that I wouldn't want her to be teased for it, and also our DS name is Miles, not sure if Miles and Francine works okay. FWIW our last name is similar to "DiMaggio". Thoughts?
Re: WDYT of Francine?
I like Francine a lot. It goes great with Miles, BTW. I like Frances and Francesca, too.
First thought is yuck but it kinda grows on me.
I like Fancesca better.
Francine makes me think of American Dad. I love the character so the name would be positively connotated to me!
It's okay. It reminds me of the character from the kids' show "Arthur" on PBS --

That's what I'm most worried about - we like the name, but I'm afraid other kids might tease because of it. Luckily we're still super early so I'm sure we'll have a million names to consider. I keep lurking on here and writing down more on my names list. Thank you everyone for the honest responses, I really appreciate them!!

Despite what my profile says, my real name is Frances. So I personally do not approve of the name. I hated it growing up. It's not so bad now, but still.
My mom said that when I was a baby no one called me by my name, they all referred to me as 'the baby'. I was lucky that didn't stick as a nn, mom sat the family down and decided that they had to figure out what to call me (ie whether they should use a nn or mn). They did decide to stick with Frances.
By the time I went to school, I had picked up Frannie as a nickname. In high school, I was also nn'd Franki. I don't really care what I get called.... Except... Fran!
Thank you! It's great to get the perspective of someone that grew up with a similar name.
