A friend of Facebook posted a picture today of her child in a forward facing carseat with the caption, "(Child's Name) loves the new view!!!!"
Now here's my problem. Her child isn't even ONE yet! Albeit her DD is very close to one but she ain't there yet! Also, the child can't weigh more than 22lbs. I'm just shocked that she would put her DD in a forward facing seat.
I'm pretty sure legally in NY they can be switched at one but if she had just done a little research she would have quickly come to the realization that switching her around is a very, very bad decision.
I couldn't control myself either, I commented, " I thought they were supposed to be around 2 before you even consider forward facing? I guess legally you can do it when they are one, is she one yet? But it's SO incredibly dangerous to have them forward facing when they are that little....please re-consider this!"
Re: I just don't understand...
I can relate but am too chickenpoop to say anything!
My FB friend just posted a picture of her 10 month old (although he weighs 25ish lbs) forward facing and I cringed! She also has pictures of him eating cookies, huge cups of juice (I mean really big, I am not totally against juice but come on), Trix yogurt and other question foods and then will post things like "I can't get him to eat any vegetables, I can't figure it out"
Her son and my daugher go to the same daycare. She has seen my DD eat and always comments about how she wishes her son would eat better food and I think hmmm lay off the cookies and I bet he would!
I usually keep my thoughts to myself when it comes to parenting, however, when it comes to safety...well, that's another issue. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about someone doing that and what the consequences could be for that poor child if God forbid something were to ever happen.
I just hope she re-considers and if I lose her as a friend over my comment then she must think we weren't that great of friends to begin with.
It confuses me why so many moms risk dead babies just to make them happy for a few minutes in the car. Liam fights the carseat - I know he gets carsick like I do, but I would never in a million years risk snapping his neck and knowing my poor judgment caused it.
The recommendations are there for a reason. I say good job for commenting.

No, it definitely is not. Legal in my state (never mind recommended) is RF until 1 and 20 lbs, FF car seat until 4. Booster from 4-8 with some height and weight stuff thrown in.
Update on this nonsense...So, I went to her page today and couldn't see anything so I sent her a message, "Did you block me from seeing your page? Why not just go ahead and delete me then, what's the point?"
She texts me back, "Hey I didn't block u on fb, not sure why u can't see my page! I would never block u".
I wrote, "Ok good! I thought you may have been offended by what I wrote on your photo but I didn't want you to be offended, I was just worried."
She texted back (and I'm typing it exactly how she texted it), "I no! Everyone has to do what's best for them, I don't have a rear facing car seat for up to 40lbs just 20 n Sammie do tall her feet are pushed n she weighs too much"
I love the "everyone has to do what's best for them" part...um, what's best? She is being lazy and cheap. Why didn't she just buy a convertible seat? I will NEVER understand some people.
