I'm new to this board (though I will admit I've been lurking and reading everyone's posts for the last couple weeks). I've been interested in adopting since I was a child, my mom worked at a orphanage in the Philippines when I was little and we've kept in touch with them ever since and so I guess that's where this all started for me. I've been married for about two years now and we're still another probably another two years from even starting the process (that is if we don't get pregnant before then which would probably push it back a little further). My husband isn't a hundred percent on board with the idea yet but he knows how much it means to me and so hopefully he'll be more comfortable with the idea as time passes. His main concern is that he'll never love an adopted child as much/in the same way as an biological child, if anyone has some good answers to that it would be very helpful since I can't seem to get past telling him that of course he will, it's never something I thought of so I wasn't really prepared when he said it.
I hope you don't mind me sticking around and asking questions and I really would love any suggestions of good places to start doing research. Does anyone have any books that were really helpful or any other resources that I should check out?
Re: Hello
Welcome! My advice would just be to have another adoptive couple over for dinner and have them share their story, so your DH can ask his questions and hear their perspective.
As far as book, if you are adopting a toddler the book "Toddler Adoption" is a good one.
