generic formula

a friend told me that her pedi told her that the only store brand she should use is the Parent's choice from Walmart (generic for enfamil)

the pedi said that this is the only one that has been extensively researched. True or not? What did your pedi say?

Re: generic formula

  • our pedi said that formula is one of the most regulated foods and that any generic we get is just as good as the pricier "name brand" stuff. that being said, we use Target brand and love it!

My pedi said the same thing - we use Kirkland (Costco) brand.

  • I think all the store brands are regulated the same because it's baby formula.  We use both Target brand and Parent's choice, DD has been great with both.

  • My pedi said the same.  We only have a walmart closeby so we just use Parents Choice. Our pedi also said that is what she used with her son.
  • All formula, name or generic brands, is strictly regulated because it is food.  I would use anything our DC like.  Right now that is Similac but if we found a generic they enjoyed we would have no problem switching.

yup-yup.  it's less than half the price of the name brand and you get more....

  • I was too freaked out to use generic with my first but after realizing how stupid I was being, we tried generic with DS and haven't had any issues and I love that it's half the cost of enfamil.
