How to use evening primrose oil?

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I'm usually on the June board. I've read that you should take 3-4 capsules orally but also insert a capsule before bed vaginally. I'm currently 39+2, so would I take 2 orally and then one vaginally? Or 3 orally plus one vaginally? Sorry, I'm a bit confused on the dosage.

  • I was advised by my OB last week to take 3 capsules orally.

  • In this and previous pregnancies I take 2 orally in the morning (starting at 37 weeks) and 2 vaginally at bedtime (starting at 38 weeks).

  • From what I've heard it helps to soften the cervix, and a soft cervix is a cervix that will dialate.  However, I've heard that your body has to be ready to soften, it won't trigger labor.  I am still hedging my bets though and taking them!

Yes This. Make sure you wear a pad to bed because it will leak out.

  • So I'm planning to do this, but the EPO I bought is 1,000mg but I've see other bottles of it in 500mg.  Anyone know the dosage in milligrams we're supposed to take?
