Anyone on here use a car running on biodiesel? We are looking to get a station wagon, but the drop in gas mileage makes me shudder ( right now our falling apart Toyota gets35 mpg). I was thinking of a Volkswagon since they don't drop the warranty if you use bio5. Just wondering if anyone has any experience.
Edit: I guess I would be looking at a volkswagon jetta sports wagon.
Re: Biodiesel
I have a Jetta and I LOVE it! I don't have the diesel, because we don't have any bio stations here, but even the regular petrol engine does nearly 30mpg city. I've heard the diesel engine can do upwards of 35-40.
I've also really appreciated VW's warranty and customer service. They're just wonderful.
My only complaint with VW is that many places charge extra for oil changes, due to the cover over the drain pan. I had to shop around for a place that would do it for a reasonable price (ended up going to a service station that deals primarily with fleet vehicles).
All in all, I highly recommend the Jetta, and I'm a VW customer for life!
Glad to hear everyone likes there Jetta. You don't seem to see a lot of VW'S around here (Midwest), but my mom did have one when we loved in WA state.
Does anyone use theirs for towing? We are hoping to start a small hobby farm in the next couple years and I'm wondering about the towing capacity. I would just want a small animal carrier for sheep or chickens, not like a Rv or anything.
Ours had a hitch already attached when we bought it used. I think it tows up to 1100lbs and we've attached a small trailer a couple of times. We love having the option to tow.
