We just got back from vacation today.... my DD used a Puddle Jumper for the first time while in the pool this week. She did great! I like it more than a life jacket because she has to work a little more. However, after the first day, I didn't have to hold her anymore! I stayed within arm's reach, but she was quite independent and was even jumping off the side of the pool.
They're great because they offer better flotation than floaties do and because of that they're US Coast Guard approved. They're very safe, very effective, and if you ever need it to go out on a boat you're set. I can't say enough great things about that product.

We just used Sydney's for the first time last weekend and she did really well in it. It's the first flotation device we've ever used for her (she hated the pool last year) so I have nothing to compare it to but I was very pleased with how she did in it and how it kept her above water and upright no problems.
