Hi ladies!
I figured I should introduce myself since I've been lurking for a bit. A little bit about me: I am 26 & DH is 24 we've been happily married for almost 3 years. We've been TTC since Nov 2011 and have lost three precious angles. My husband and I have always talked about adopting, but figured that we would start when we were in our 30s and once we've honed our parenting skills on our own children Clearly that hasnt happened and we are still young but I just feel like God is calling us to start this process. I know in my heart that we will have biological children one day, but I also feel that we have some special little ones out there waiting to call us mom and dad. I know that the fostering/adoption process can be long, costly and heartbreaking at times but we're jumping in!
We will be meeting with a lady from our local adoption agency on Monday for a 45min home visit and will be starting 10-week classes on Tuesday. Can you give me any advice on what to expect for the home visits and classes and just the fostering and adoption process as a whole?
Thank you so much & I look forward to getting to know all of you!
Re: Intro
Welcome! Your story is similar to ours, though we did not have a miscarriage in our infertility journey- so sorry for your losses. I'm 26 and DH is 28 so we're just a big older than you.
We're going the international adoption route so I don't know too much about fostering, but the homestudy is somewhat similar. Our caseworker basically talked to us about our history, how we're faced trials in the past, how we communicate, and asked us how we would handle certain scenarios with our children (most attachment related). We did a lot of homework to learn more about the emotional impact of adoption on children etc. The homevisit was painless. She looked around at our house and called it good. Make sure you have fire extinguishers and smoke detectors and a plan for keeping dangers (stairways, household toxins) away from kids. Other than that just be yourself!

Welcome!! We are glad to have you here. It's a friendly board w/lots of great information. There's a FAQ in the upper right corner of the list.
Just an FYI.... in the adoption world, lots of stong feelings about calling biological children "children of my/our own". Our children are our own too I share this only because in some adoptive circles people can get really quick to snap at you... I'd rather share the info here on friendly terms
Again, welcome.
