I have 2 embies that were frozen on day 3. One is a 6 cell grade 2 and the other is a 5 cell grade 3. We will transfer one at a time since I pay will only pay for 1 FET anyway. How does this work? Will they let me do the FET right away or wait a cycle? I might wait a month anyway. Will I go through the whole process of whatever drugs they put me on and monitoring before they thaw? If the one they thaw doesn't survive, will they be able to thaw the other one in time or would I have to wait another cycle?
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13
Re: How do FET's work?
I'm sorry things didn't go as planned this cycle. I don't have any personal experience, but this same question was asked a day or two ago. Here's the link:

I can only tell you what my clinic does, so it could be different from you, but this was my experience.
First, your embies will likely come out of freezing as a totally different size and grade, mine did anyway. I had to wait three unmedicated cycles before my clinic would do anything, but they do that for anything after an IVF cycle. Not sure why, I think they just want to give your body a chance to recover or something. I transferred mine on a natural ovulatory cycle, which means that I started going for monitoring on CD8 and went for monitoring as any other month and waited for a surge. 24 hours after the surge I started using p4 and then two or three (can't remember) days after that I went in for my transfer. I continued the p4 but that was the only medication I used. It was so awesome and easy on my body, I wish I had more to transfer like that.
If your embryo doesn't survive the thaw (fx'd it will) they will have a chance to thaw the second one that day. My clinic would just push the transfer back a few hours and transfer when the new one is ready.
Good Luck!!

For you, your RE will probably let you cycle right away again. Some like to wait a cycle. Yes you will go through all the drugs first: this is how my FET goes
Report CD1
Start estrace CD25 - period starts a few days later
Continue on estrace for 2-3 weeks
Come in for a baseline check
Start prog + ET meds (medrol, etc...)
My lab thaws the embies the day of and claim they can tell in about 2-3 hours if you are good to go (sometimes as soon as 20 min if the embies do really well).
After ET continue prog and estrace
Beta
No you should not have to wait another cycle if one doesn't thaw.
